Rules

  • Films must incorporate peace-building and/or anti-bigotry.

  • Films may be documentaries, narratives, or PSAs.

  • Entrants must be attending high school or 8th grade in the year 2018-2019.

  • Films must be made in groups of 1-5 people.

  • Films must be between 3 and 10 minutes in length, including end credits.

  • Films must be the original work of the high school filmmakers. Plagiarism may result in disqualification.

  • All visuals and audio used in the films must be created by the students or used with permission.

  • Music may be included in your film if:

    • The music was created by you or by someone who has given you written permission to use the music in their film, or

    • The music composition does not require credits or other attribution.

  • The entry video must be between 3 and 10 minutes in length.

  • Do not include any logos, brand names, trademarks, or copyrighted material in your video submission.

  • Do not include content which is obscene, immoral, profane, or defamatory.

  • You must be able to provide written permission from each person whose name, image, or voice appears in their entry video.

  • Main characters in narrative or PSA films must be in high school.

  • To upload an entry video, paste your video’s (public or unlisted) YouTube URL into the applicable box in the entry form. Do not mention Filmshakers in the posting of your YouTube video.

  • Regular entries must be submitted by midnight Eastern Standard Time the night of September 5th, 2019.​
