Who will judge the films?
The films will be judged by a group of professional filmmakers, activists, and educators. Selected films will receive feedback on their films after the film festival date.
Do I need to be a resident of Virginia in order to submit a film for the contest?
You don't have to be a resident of Virginia to submit a film. However, you must be a resident of the United States and be a rising high school student or a rising college freshman.
Why are finalists strongly encouraged to attend the film festival?
The goal of the Filmshakers Festival is not only to reward talented filmmakers, but to reward ones who are willing to show up and participate in meaningful discussion.
